I'm an English teacher here in Brazil, so I made so my classrooms had contact with Haring's Artworks by printing a bunch of them and putting them on the walls, as soon as they settle down, I began asking them about the pieces, the colors, the messages, when and where did they think they were made and finally talked about our man and his story.

Teens in Action/Collaborative Paintings
Teens at Floral Park Public Library were asked to design two collaborative wall pieces inspired by the works of Keith Haring. The completed works will be framed and displayed in the young adult area of Floral Park public library.
Empowering “Crack Is Wack” Mural
Art activities incorporated in the process of creating a Keith Haring inspired mural that went up the walls, on the windows and over the doors. This mural expanded upon the dangers of drugs and abuse.
Neighborhood Mini-Mural
I am a fan of Haring Kids website and enjoy sharing it with people I know and children that I share my love of art with. This week, I taught some of my neighborhood kids (ages 4-11) about Keith Haring and his art. Each child created their own Haring inspired art work to take home with them.
Graffiti – Tribute to Promote Reading
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Keith Haring’s death, the Art department of Lauro Ikastola School in the Basque Country in Spain, recently organized a graffiti competition to promote reading. Students worked on the winning idea for three days
Jumping Kids Art
Our 2nd graders did a fabulous job as they created these amazing pictures in the style of Keith Haring. We learned how to draw basic body shapes in proportion by drawing ovals. We drew an oval for the head, a bigger oval for the body, 3 smaller ovals for each arm, and then 3 ovals for each leg. We learned that our body only bends where we have a joint... in this case where two of our ovals met. We drew people doing all kinds of fun things. Ideally, the children drew figures doing something that was important to them... something they loved. Then we cut out our figures and glued them down. We tried to overlap the figures to show depth. This was a hard concept for the children to understand, but it was really interesting to see the results. Finally, we created some visual texture by making a beautiful patterned floor for our figures to dance on. I love the energy in all of these pictures. In the 2nd picture especially, you can actually see the children playing basketball. The overlapping in this piece of artwork provides so much depth to the picture.
Dancing Silhouettes
After a dance lesson about statues, these youngsters looked at Keith Haring pictures and drew their own silhouettes on the asphalt outside their school.
Subway Art
A great starting point for a large scale project, this lesson uses simple materials, and optimizes their boldness and beauty. Inspired by Haring's early graffiti work in the subways of NYC, these students took off with their own innovative and creative ideas.
Lady Liberty
This wonderful project celebrates freedom and Keith Haring at the same time, while helping students to understand what makes this country so unique and special.
Book of Little Things
Although initially used as an adjunct to a larger scale lesson, this activity provides much potential when used with Keith Haring's book, NINA'S BOOK OF LITTLE THINGS, which allows for interactive visual and conceptual activities.
